‘WORLD’S LARGEST PEDOPHILE RING’ UNCOVERED

    EUROPOL: POLICE ARREST 184
    IN WORLDWIDE PEDOPHILE RING
The Hague (Reuters) - European police agency says 184 suspects arrested and 230 children rescued from abuse following major operation.  “Six-hundred-and-seventy suspects have been identified, 184 arrests have already been made and 230 children, the victims of these terrible crimes, have been identified and rescued from further harm,’’ the policing agency’s director, Rob Wainwright, said during a press conference.  “We expect these numbers to rise further,’’ he said, adding: “This is already the biggest case of its kind we have ever seen.”  Dubbed Operation Rescue, Europol said the probe started in 2007, and targeted an online network, its server based in The Netherlands, with almost 70,000 members worldwide at its height.  The suspects were members of an online forum, boylover.net, that promoted sex between adults and young boys.

Europol said the website operated as a forum where members connected without committing an offence. Having made contact on the site, they would then use other channels, such as email, to exchange images and films of children being abused.  The website, which portrayed itself as a discussion only forum where people could share their sexual interest in young boys without committing any specific offences, has been taken down.  Members made contact on the site and moved into more private channels like email to exchange and share illegal images and films of children being abused.  While these offenders felt anonymous in some way because they were using the internet to communicate, the technology was actually being used against them.

Police from around the world have arrested 184 suspected members of a major pedophile ring and rescued 230 children from abuse.  The online forum boylover.net, which has been taken down and its operator taken to court, promoted sex between adults and boys.  The website operated as a discussion-only forum where people could share their sexual interest in young boys.  They used email to exchange and share abuse images of children.  Those detained by police include teachers, lifesavers, police officers, scout leaders, and even an 84-year-old man.  It is very difficult for conditioned souls to restrain sex desire and many troubled men even need children for sexual stimulation or sense gratification.

WHAT DO THE VEDIC TEACHINGS TELL US?
The material world is not about enjoyment. According to Patanjali's Yoga-sutra (2.15) the wise understand that sense pleasure begets suffering either as a direct consequence (parinama), in the form of anticipation (tapa) of its inevitable loss, or in the form of new craving (samskara) for sense pleasure that arises from impressions of it embedded in the mind.  Thus sense pleasure is mixed with suffering in all three phases of time.  Real joy comes from the culture of selfless action, in which one acts for the satisfaction of God and not one's material senses.  Everyone acknowledges that sex life must be restricted in some manner.  This sense arises in human life.  Marriage is an important part of the culture of selfless action, and sexual indulgence should be confined within marital commitment for those interested in religious and spiritual life, in which real joy can be found.
