UN sanctions make Côte d ' Ivoire leader

    Der of the United Nations Security Council unanimously Wednesday imposed sanctions President Laurent Gbagbo, his wife and three associates controversial Côte d'Ivoire, as well as give UN peacekeepers to protect civilians more authority.


    The Security Council vote occurred Wednesday amid reports the escalation of violence in the west African State.


    Ouattara is internationally one recognized as legitimate winner November election. But Gbagbo, the incumbent operator of Ouattara beat, has refused, does give up.


    The UN resolution demands that Gbagbo resign immediately and accept all State institutions, including the military, Ouattara as President. Simone Gbagbo, chairs with the nation controversial first lady, the parliamentary group of the Ivorian Popular Front. DjeDje is a close adviser to Gbagbo.


    Seydoun Ouattara, a spokesman for forces secure Alassane Ouattara, told Radio France International Wednesday that Gbagblo loyalists fled, Yamoussoukro, and that opposition forces took control of many parts of the city.


    Also forces loyal to Gbagbo opened Wednesday, fire on the French Embassy escort car in Abidjan, according to the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. An attack in the town of Bouna against loyalists of Ouattara say Pro-Gbagbo "Mercenaries and militias" started. A spokesman for Gbagbo, Ahoua Don Mello, denied that Ouattara's Abidjan forces were advancing.
