SCIENTISTS FIND ASHWAGANDHA PREVENTS CANCER

    RESEARCHERS FIND TRADITIONAL INDIAN
    HERB ASHWAGANDHA AS ANTI CANCERIOUS
www.healthcarendiet.com - Recent research has found Ashwagandha, a traditional Indian herb as having anti-cancerous properties. Long-term use of the herb not only saves from the dreaded disease but is known for slowing down ageing process, thus restoring memory loss and cell destruction. It also fights fatigue, dehydration, bone weakness and dehydration. Now, the scientists working in the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Ibaraki, Japan have found Ashwagandha as anti-cancer. The research team under the leadership of renowned scientist of Indian origin Renu Wadhwa has completed the clinical trials on animals that show excellent results. The lab trials have found that Ashwagandha has anti-cancerous compound which is toxic in nature and kills cancer cells in the body but protects normal cells. The research also established the anti ageing property of the herb.

The research team also included another Indian scientist Sunil Kaul. The duo presented a paper on these properties of Ashwagandha in recently concluded International Symposium on “Brain Ageing and Dementia” at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. Aswagandha (bot. Withania Somnifera) is mentioned in Charak and Sushruta Samhitas as a rejuvenating herb and is being used by Ayurveda practitioners from time immemorial. It is also called “Indian ginseng” for its aphrodisiac, sedative, rejuvenative and life prolonging properties.

Researchers said that due to its anti-ageing and anti cancer properties, Ashwagandha slows down the anormal multiplication of cells and this protects the body from cancer. The Ayurveda system is based on promotion of the physical, mental, and spiritual well being and balance, and it uses many different kinds of medicinal herbs. The Ramayana says that on one occasion, Hanuman was asked to bring some medicinal herbs from a distant mountain in order to cure Laksman and Ramacandra who had been attacked by the raksasa Indrajit using arrows surcharged with the power of Lord Brahma. Not knowing which herb to collect, Hanuman brought the whole mountain to the Lord. After accomplishing his mission, Hanuman quickly returned to the Himalayas, putting the mountain peak back in its proper place.

WHAT DO THE VEDIC TEACHINGS TELL US?
When Rama and Laksmana were seriously wounded by Indrajit’s arrows and fell down unconscious on the ground ... Jambavan instructed Hanuman, “Go quickly to the Himalayas and locate the Rishabha Mountain. In between Rishabha and Kailash is a mountain that is covered with powerful medicinal herbs that illuminate all directions. You must gather four of these herbs and bring them back here. They are Mritasanjivani, Sialyakarani, Suvarnakarani and Sandhani. If you do it, all the monkey heroes who lost their lives can be revived.” ... Hanuman frantically searched all over the mountain for the required herbs. But, since the plants had hidden themselves upon sensing the arrival of an intruder, he could not locate them. Hanuman roared and angrily challenged, “Mountain, if you act in such a way as to impede the service of Lord Rama, I will smash you into millions of tiny pieces!” When there was no response, Hanuman ripped off the top of the mountain, sprang into the air, and quickly flew the 1000 yojanas back to Lanka. When Rama and Laksman were made to inhale the fragrance of the herbs, all Their wounds were immediately healed. The herbs were then administered to all the wounded monkeys, even those monkeys that had been killed were instantly revived to perfect health.
